Working as an exploration designer for Signify, Simone joined the 3D Printing design team in 2018. Simone studied at Design Academy Eindhoven and graduated from the programme "human identity and visual expression" and since then she enjoyed working as a designer in the field of innovation and exploration  design.

Simone assisted in the direction setting of styles, the creation of a colour library, as well as defining the design look and feel for the Philips MyCreation collections. "For me, Philips MyCreation is a creative playground for exploring the world of 3D printing, from exciting textures and unique shapes to new colour and material developments.", Simone shares her words, "it is exciting to work with this innovative technique and to turn design challenges into unique and beautiful products".

"Lighting is the perfect way to create different moods in your home and to express your personal identity", and something Simone is proud to be part of.

Everyday life inspires beautiful design

Simone takes design inspiration from "all kinds of beautiful things", both man-made and natural, such as a shape of a vase, a building façade, or a sand pattern on the beach, "it is quite an intuitive process" Simone says.

"Through sketching and by making mood boards, ideas come together, evolve and eventually something new comes to life.",  3D Printing is, according to Simone, an "immediate process. When we want to try new shape of textures, it is relatively easy to do".

Sustainable materials are vital in Simone's design process, exploring the possibilities and specific qualities of recycled and bio-based materials and creating aesthetically pleasing products with a "unique expression".

Simone recommends choosing products which you really love personally beyond trends, then you can build a lifelong relationship with it. With Philips MyCreation's collections, we help the customer find the right luminaire that resonates with them.

Top tip for consumers

Simone suggests using Philips Hue bulbs with the ability to dim or change in color to help "create different atmospheres to fit different occasions". In a large space Simone suggests combining luminaires from one collection to "create harmony in the room."

A way to make a 'grand expression' with light is to cluster 3 different luminaires from the same family together. Lighting can make a small space feel bigger, so Simone suggests placing lights in dark corners to "visually extend the space".
