Salone del Mobile 2023 was a truly remarkable event for us. We were thrilled to showcase our latest sustainable lighting solutions and co-creation innovations, which were made possible by the incredible efforts of our team and collaborators.

Our team wishes to thank curator Nicole Uniquole for extending the invitation. The impressive room in the historic Palazzo Giureconsulti in the beating heart of Milan was shared with Dutch designers and architects. The space was focused on the theme of collaboration towards a sustainable future. We support the ideas that without combined efforts in design and manufacturing innovation, we will not be able to achieve the circular future we aspire.

Small Steps Towards a Circular Future

This year, we highlighted our partnership with Fishy Filaments, founded by Ian Falconer, to create luminaires made from 100% second-life recycled fishing nets from Cornwall, UK. We show how the flexibility of 3D printing affords us the possibility to work with small change-makers like Ian to offset the problems of ocean plastics – one step at a time. Providing fishermen, a motivation to correctly dispose of their waste and positively impact on the environment which we are all so reliant on in the process.

This is one example of the initiatives Philips MyCreation hopes will make an impact and give our customers the option for the most sustainable option in lighting.

Co-Creation – Simple and Sustainable

Together with Alessandra Gaca - an award-winning textile designer with 25 years of experience- we brought together the worlds of 3D dimensional textiles and 3D printing. Using 3D printing technology, we were able to translate her Ondo textile into a lighting application to create a stunning new product.

Our co-creation approach enables us to work closely with our customers to develop lighting solutions that meet their unique needs, without the need for expensive tooling or wasteful over-production staying true to our commitment to sustainability. We believe that closing the loop of circularity is a collaborative exercise driven by design statements like ours.
