Light for gathering together.
Dining room
A dining room is a place where you gather with friends and family to enjoy a meal and each other's company. That means there should be enough light for everyone to see comfortably, but it should never be overwhelming or distracting. A low-hanging pendant light in the center of the table helps create that brightness and focal point - don't forget to leave enough space for people to move around. If you're looking for more diffuse and playful light, try grouping multiple pendant lights at different heights to create a special effect.
Light to gather around
The dining room is often, along with the living room, one of the most central places in the house, especially since the interior trend of open kitchens. What we also see more and more is that the living room and dining room seamlessly blend together, and the use of the dining room goes beyond just "a place to eat." The dining room is the place where you come together with friends and family to enjoy a meal and each other's company. Often, work is also done at the dining table or it is the place to play family games. Therefore, make sure to have a good dining room light to make optimal use of all the functions of the space - functional and cozy.
The dining room, a multifunctional space with multiple lights.
Within every living style, we have plenty of choices to find something that suits your personal taste. The dining table lamp is the most prominent lighting in the dining room, but it is extra cozy if you add mood lighting in other places as well. For example, you can place a beautiful table lamp in a cabinet or two table lamps on either side of a sideboard. Dose well! If the hanging lamp above the dining table is already a real statement, keep it that way and, for example, add subtle white table lamps to the sideboard or cabinet. If you have a neutral lamp above the dining table, it can be fun to give an extra touch with a beautiful outspoken color, such as a gold or black table lamp. If you want even more color, we also have yellow, pink, red, and blue table lamps in our assortment.
How big should your dining room lamp be and how high should it hang above the dining table?
When buying the right hanging lamp above the dining table, pay attention to the size of the table and the lamp you choose above it. When you get up from the table, your body moves forward, and you don't want to hit your head every time. To prevent this, it is advisable to take into account 30-35 cm of "clearance" on both sides of the table. For example, if you have a dining table of 2 meters, a lamp of 130-140 cm is perfect for above your dining table. For a round table, you take about half the diameter. So, if you have a table with a diameter of 100cm, a hanging lamp of 50cm wide is the best fit.
A nice height for hanging your lamp is about 60-80 cm above the table, so there is still quite a bit of room depending on the effect you want to create.
If you have your eye on a smaller lamp, that's not a problem! It is really annoying, however, if half of the table remains unlit, so we recommend that you go for multiple small lamps side by side in that case. This can be in a straight line for a sleeker and more modern look or at different heights for a more playful effect.
